How do "Phillepe Richard" and "Farberware" rate when comparing quality of kitchenware?

It's Christmas shopping time and these are always on sale at 40-50% off. Are these mediocre products? Should I buy more expensive ones?

I think it depends on where you purchase them…Farberware from a department store seems to hold up better than Farberware from Wal-Mart…look for what you would in any cookware: heavy construction, lids that fit tightly, quality finish, substantial handle that is well attached. If you're thinking Farberware knives, I'd skip it, they just don't produce quality knives. Often, you get what you pay for, and it is better to spend a little more money…at Christmastime, just be on the lookout about quality…there are some great deals, and some that you'll just get burned on.
